Located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, the Margaret Mitchell House, birthplace of Gone With The Wind, is a two block historic site listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Docents will regale you with stories of this extraordinary Southern woman who defied convention. Tours include the furnished apartment where Margaret Mitchell wrote her Pulitzer prize winning novel; the house built in 1899 by the son of an Irish immigrant that along with Mitchell's Irish ancestors inspired the characters in the novel and numerous exhibit galleries.

The newest attraction, the Gone With The Wind Movie Museum, allows you to step into the drama that surrounds David O. Selznick's Academy Award winning motion picture film. See the original doorway from Tara, Rhett's trousers, the original life size portrait of Scarlett, movie scripts, collectibles and posters from around the world.

Open daily 9:30 to 5pm.
